It is true that this battery is not advertised in ZS3 Lumix camera like. The reason is simple. Panasonic has encrypted firmware to prevent foreign companies manufacture a functioning non-coded battery. If you check your menu in version DISP. Want to see that the firmware version is first 2nd This firmware version has to allow exclusive Panasonic sabotage software only official and very expensive Panasonic branded batteries work with this camera. Too bad that the Panasonic, knide that runs corporate gouging their customers. The current firmware version 1 12:00 to work up to a third party batteries. That’s why you get conflicting customer reviews. Check your firmware and let us complain to Panasonic. In the meantime, we warn ships of this misrepresentation of a functioning battery. Remove it from the eyes to not put all through a lot of unnecessary trouble and costs of trouble. This battery works very well with ZS3. He has Japanese cells are covered by insurance and approximately $ 1,000,000. The battery is built. Everything you need to do is downgrade the firmware from the first 2-1. 1st You can Google out step-by-step instructions. It has to degrade me about 5 minutes. Currently, the brand is Panasonic ZS3 batteries sold in the United States. And even if it is available, MSRP $ 60. Go figure!

I have reduced the firmware version. 1st 1 and these batteries worked great. I have an upgrade then again Ver. 1st 2 and the camera still worked. So I naturally fell back to Ver. 1st 1st . . As such, I see absolutely no downside, from the first switch 2-1. 1st Even if something goes wrong, do not change wrong on the camera’s firmware will void the warranty.
If a major problem will be fixed in a future update, and I will then deal with it.
These batteries have a higher valuation and actually seems longer. To check really would have to make very controlled tests, not just random shooting. As such, I do not intend to conduct tests that this battery is already a huge task as a back-up for half the price. . .
UPDATE: 11-4-09
I have a battery test with a video with my Panny ZS3 with just 10 full Zoom In / out functions, this battery lasted 90 minutes. . . Not bad, considering my old Canon HG20 camcorder you barely fit it with a 2100 mAh battery. . . Even if the real past is the more cycles to better use, I can maybe a bit longer to wait. . .

I charged the battery as instructed. After inserting each of the two batteries I ordered, a message appears on the screen to inform me that the battery can not be used and the camera turns itself off. I’m back, because the batteries are useless with my new Lumix camera. I gave it a 1 star only because I had reason to give it a zero star rating and was accessible.

Before you buy this battery, I read the reviews on Amazon and did some research. I knew that Panasonic has the updated firmware to prevent the use of third-party batteries in certain cameras, so I checked the firmware version on my recently purchased the DMC-ZR1. It was V 1 0, so I thought I was OK. The battery pack fits well and caught the camera, but in about one second, the screen flashed a message that this battery will not be used with the camera, and then turn the camera down. ZR1 is a newer camera, so obviously the original firmware version also has the battery in the limit. Since it is the first firmware, there is no older version that I will go back. It is unfortunate, because the Panasonic-branded battery is very expensive, compared to the third party options. I have to cancel and continue my search. Panasonic Web site that this be done for security reasons, says also said no third party batteries currently meets their standards. No one is approved for use in Panasonic cameras with the new firmware. I have at least one place that their battery works with all firmware versions, says seen. I’m going to check their returns before ordering.
