I am generally chose more of a photographer at heart, but I decided to finally buy an HD camcorder, and after much research, I’m looking for the Canon HF-S200. It seemed the right combination of features, size, price and quality have – and so far it is measured.
From an ergonomic point of view, I found the camera on the right side for my hands. The controls seem logical to you, and it fits naturally in my hand in a way that I can keep it all the time without feeling uncomfortable. Nevertheless, despite the fact that the camera is barely one pound in weight, to get the best HD quality, you should consider a monopod, tripod or other support. I use a Kirk harnesses from one of my cameras on loan and it works well. Otherwise, the control seems to be where I want, and it took quite a little effort to the point where I have the most features without fixing the camera itself could get to grips with. Also because of the memory architecture, there are no moving parts in the recording system (of course there are moving parts in the lens, focusing mechanism, zooming, etc.) so that it fast, responsive and – best of all – very quiet in operation. < , Br />

Plus, you get only an efficient 6-8MP – relatively low by today’s standards DSLR. I’m not so sure that this is an issue, but I think I can not shoot video with my heavy DSLR and I would not be taken seriously Stills on my camcorder. In 35mm terms, the range of about 43-435mm. . . well at the long end, but not quite as wide as I would like as a whole. But it is a fast lens and is focused in the vicinity (about a foot, depending on the zoom setting). I bought the Vixia H S200 is based on many good reviews and highest ratings on CNET. There is a large video camera around without a doubt the great picture and video quality. It ranks at the top, what out there today in the Prosumer Prosumer or almost category. Then I read was interesting about the Panasonic HDC-TM700, and especially the comparison with the Panasonic S21 Canon VIXIA H. The Vixia H S200, S20 and H VIXIA VIXIA H S21 are identical from a hardware / firmware point of view, only the H S21 has a viewfinder and built-in 64GB of memory, 32GB H S20 built-in memory plus SDHC card slot and H-S200, only SDHC slots.
Panasonic was $ 400 more expensive Canon simple. So I decided to make my own Comparo and ordered the HDC-TM700. Now, after two weeks of the comparative images I have to agree. Panasonic HDC-TM 700 is a better camcorder for all the same reasons as above to camcorder info.

things I do not like:
Canon lens do not broad enough for all to get into the picture, especially challenging for in a home, or nearby. The touch screen is not as soft and smooth scrolling through the menu is difficult. I often browse accidentally selected a menu option in the attempt,. This really works and makes high-definition screen rather cumbersome. The lack of a proper and chargers on top of the power supply has its own contacts (for all my Nikon and Panasonic gear I just need to time the power cord and can use it with any charger or adapter for the camcorder requires its own power cord!). The camcorder is a little awkward to hold and really too large for today’s standards. Glossy surface makes the camcorder with wet or slippery, sweaty fingers and see all the fingerprints.
Panasonic: Bolt-on shoe is a real joke. As a massive bars on the side. Screen and menu structure is not up to a couple of Canon, although the touch screen works much better for touch commands. Fan is a variable part, and finally break. Only one slot.
In the end, I am looking for the best video quality and vibrant colors, razor-sharp images. The department Canon not even close to the new Panasonic coming. Period. Since I am also with a number of Nikon cameras for walk around, I like the Panasonic is smaller and is also much more comfortable to hold.

Great video, I did it for was a little more than a week. and still learning the ins and outs. “Auto Mode” is great, until you are completely ready to go and manually adjust all the settings to your heart.

– Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 had no problem importing the files. Can edit and work with files smoothly, but the exports. mp4 (for best quality). I am not an expert with the Premier, but wish I could go back to export. MTS or. m2ts, may have to wait for various programs or CS5.

The S200 is a really good camcorder. As the previous reviewer, I am a still photog. This is my first digital video camera. I have the right feature set for the right price, serviced, and that’s it for me, although it is less expensive in the future.

We have a standard definition of which Canon FS-10 video camera for two years owned and enjoyed every minute. It was a very reliable dual-function camera with solid components, which gave us some problems and is never used as intended. However, the attraction was true HD just too strong to ignore. Awesome video, even at 24fps (frames per second). In its default setting 60i – you get the picture. Connectivity is a comprehensive, although I had wanted to include mini-to-standard HDMI cable included, I would prefer to connect to HDTV. I found a nice adapter at Radio Shack, but the “mini”-finals for only nine dollars, so no points out. Honorable mention goes to their fine arrangements for pop-up or flash / video light. It is right in front of the lens, so my fingers are not in the way of their activities (I always hate it with our cameras). Highest score all around.
RAM:
I have done no complaints about the internal Canon digital storage systems, our FS-10 8 GB internal memory never, during the We used it two years.
